Cooking Class Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this cooking class, participants will:

  1. Master the Art of Spaghetti Carbonara: Learn how to prepare an authentic Italian spaghetti carbonara from scratch. This includes mastering the classic technique of creating a silky, creamy sauce without using cream—just eggs, Pecorino Romano cheese, guanciale (or pancetta), and black pepper. Participants will also perfect their timing to ensure the pasta is cooked al dente and the sauce is smooth and perfectly coats the pastas.

  2. Understand Pasta Making Fundamentals: Learn the basics of pasta-making, including how to prepare and roll out fresh pasta dough. This will help participants develop an appreciation for the difference between fresh homemade pasta and store-bought versions. The class will cover ingredients, ratios, and tips for working with pasta dough to achieve the perfect texture.

  3. Prepare Fresh Ravioli Pasta with Spinach and Three Cheeses: Gain hands-on experience in making fresh ravioli from scratch, learning how to roll, fill, and seal the delicate pockets of pasta. Participants will create a flavorful filling of fresh spinach and a blend of three cheeses (such as ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan) that perfectly complement each other. The class will focus on achieving the ideal balance of textures and flavors for the filling.

  4. Learn Ravioli Cooking Techniques: Understand how to properly cook homemade ravioli to achieve the perfect texture—tender yet firm. Participants will also learn how to make the best use of the pasta water for finishing the ravioli, helping to incorporate a flavourful sauce without losing the integrity of the pasta.

  5. Perfect the Art of Pasta Presentation: Learn to plate both the spaghetti carbonara and ravioli dishes in a visually appealing manner. The class will cover garnishing techniques that enhance the visual presentation, as well as tips for serving these dishes like an Italian chef.

 

By the end of this hands-on class, participants will have acquired essential skills in making two classic pasta dishes from scratch, as well as the confidence to recreate them at home with authentic flavors and techniques.
